On June 12 2025, the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experienced an outage that caused a serious degradation of Wordly’s services. Not only did this outage impact Wordly, but it also severely impacted other major cloud service providers across the Internet. The outage impacted Wordly’s services starting at about 10:55 AM PDT and continued until about 1:12 PM PDT when Google was able to restore most of their services. During the entire outage, the engineering team continued to actively monitor the situation. There were multiple issues with retrieving transcripts in the Portal and receiving real-time translations in any of our various client applications.
